Launch Of Extreme Reads Compeitition

Extreme Reads Competition

Ian Smith launching Extreme Reads competitionTameside Educations Boss, Ian Smith, took his passion for reading to a new height!  The Executive Director for Services for Children and Young People launched Tameside's 'Extreme Reads' competition by reading his book at the top of Mottram Tower.

This summer as part of a programme of activities to support the National Year of Reading in Tameside, libraries are looking for photographs of people reading in unusual or extreme places.

The competition is open to all ages and there are some great prizes up for grabs in three categories; under 12's, 13-17 year olds and 18 and over (non-professional).  Entry forms are available in all Tameside libraries or can be downloaded.  Photographs, which must be submitted as prints (maximum size 5" by 7") can be handed in at any Tameside library from mid June until the end of September.

So whether you are skateboarding in your local park or watching penguins in Antartica, remember that you can read anything, anytime, anywhere - and send us a picture!  An exhibition of the photographs will be displayed in the autumn.
