The popular event, which was held at Stamford Park, Stalybridge, last Sunday (August 10), was this year named ‘Give it a go’ and was based on a theme of the four elements - Earth, Wind, Water and Fire.

Children and young people link to external websitewere encouraged to try out a variety of activities including kite-flying, den-building, a climbing wall, arts and crafts and much more.

Over 700 families also took up the chance to give feedback on their local parks and choose their favourite type of play equipment. Everyone who took part in the consultation received a free goodybag.

Tameside Council’s Play Manager Liz Hughes said: “This year’s play day was all about children and young people trying something new, being adventurous and getting back in touch with the elements.

“There was lots to do and everyone seemed to thoroughly enjoy it - hopefully we have opened their minds to all sorts of new play ideas and experiences.”
