Improvements to Your Refuse Collection and Recycling Services

We are making changes to the service in order to meet the recycling targets set by Central Government. Last year Tameside MBC achieved a recycling rate of 27.09%.

The Government is looking to set a 40% target by 2010 and 50% by 2020. This will require a change in the way we dispose of our waste. The new style of working is a very cost effective way to deal with waste and is now operating successfully within more than 150 authorities across the country. Authorities operating a managed collection service for waste are now achieving very high recycling rates.
