Twenty eight young men and women from the Indian Community Centre in Ashton seized the opportunity to represent Tameside this weekend when they joined the celebrations of Liverpool Capital of Culture.

The popular event, which was held at Stamford Park, Stalybridge, last Sunday (August 10), was this year named ‘Give it a go’ and was based on a theme of the four elements - Earth, Wind, Water and Fire.

Everyone knows that being physically active improves your health and wellbeing. The Tameside Sport and Physical Activity Alliance (SPAA) aims to help the people living in Tameside to be more active.

This summer as part of a programme of activities to support the National Year of Reading in Tameside, libraries are looking for photographs of people reading in unusual or extreme places.
